All of our babies are hand raised from birth. Each is handled several times a day. This activity stimulates the growth of their brain. As soon as the pups are steady on their feet, they are given a puppy jungle gym to play on. This is another way to expand their experiences which in turn makes them better thinkers. At eight weeks of age, the puppies are given a temperament test which yields a personality profile of each of them. This information helps us make a custom fit between owner and dog that will last for the rest of their lives.

We do our best to breed only healthy dogs who have passed all their testing with high marks. You can be assured both parents have been as fully tested as the current state of medicine allows. Copies of all parental testing are included in your individual "puppy packet". We utilize DNA testing whenever possible. These test results are the only ones that conclusively define the genetic makeup of an individual dog. Currently, DNA is used for Von Willibrands testing. We favor using the PennHip method of hip xrays for our dogs. It is more expensive that traditional OFA xrays, but PennHip allows for an accurate non-subjective description of the laxity of each hip joint. It has been shown that laxity of the hip joint leads to dysplasia. All of our breeding stock is certified clear of PRA from a board certified Diplomate of Opthamology. Skin punches must be clear of Sebacious Adenitis. A complete blood panel looks at the chemical makeup of each dog.

Even with all of this testing, and analyzing pedigrees for health problems of the ancestors, most of the testing we do is only a "snap shot" in time rather than a guarantee of the future. There are many health issues that take years to show up and there is no means to test for them. The veterinary medical community is woefully lacking in many areas of animal health and research.

Although the apricot standard Poodles is our passion, we know that the gene pool has to be broadened with the occasional use of another colored Poodle with a different pedigree. So, we sometimes have puppies in black, blue, cream as well as apricot.

They sell for $1500. and up. Persons interested in a
show/breeding dog will be offered a Co-ownership
until all testing is completed and buyer has demonstrated
sufficient understanding of the health issues and
responsibilities of being a breeder of this wonderful breed.
