Welcome to the Afghan Hound Club of
Greater Denver! We are a club dedicated to the health, happiness and well-being of
all Afghan Hounds, as well as to all the sports and activities their owners can
participate in with their dogs.
We are a non-profit organization, licenced by the AKC since 1974. We
currently have 28 members, many of whom are involved in Conformation, Lure Coursing,
Obedience and Agility. Our club also has a Rescue Committee, headed by Holly Magalei,
to aid homeless Afghan Hounds, and help them find new owners. Every year we conduct
several fund-raising activities to help defray the costs of rescuing and caring for those
Afghan Hounds, such as hosting All-Breed Fun Matches and T-Shirt sales.
The Afghan Hound Club of Greater Denver hosted their first AKC sanctioned Specialty Show
in 1975. The club hosts a Specialty Show each year in September. In addition,
we also hold a Sanctioned Specialty Match every summer.
We conduct meetings on a monthly basis, at a variety of locations in and around the Denver
area. We invite anyone interested in Afghan Hounds to contact us for more
information about membership requirements and details about upcoming meetings and events.
